Top Gracefully Vintage Formal Dresses for Tea Party

The sweet tea party events are now becoming increasingly popular recent years. I would be love to share some ladylike formal dresses to attend an old-fashioned tea party. If you were invited to a tea party, here are some perfectly on-theme outfit ideas with the vintage twist that you love.

A floral formal dress

You have to wear a great dress to a tea party, and Dressesofgirl has a wide variety of formal dresses to choose from. Swing formal dresses with cinched waists and wide, flared skirts are perfect for the occasion, and they come in feminine floral prints, colorful stripes and soft pastel hues.

A cardigan. Top off your dress with a matching cardigan to keep things perfectly put-together. If your dress comes in a print or pattern, pull one color to wear on your cardigan; if your dress is just one shade, choose a cardigan in a contrasting color.

The perfect pumps. Finally, add a pair of modest high heels that will make your legs look great. Try a retro T-strap, a classic Mary Jane or some patent leather pumps for a more modern look.

Accessories. We love a pair of ladylike white gloves for a tea party. Pack your lipstick and other essentials into a small, classic handbag or go off-script and make a statement with a graphic clutch.

Bordeaux Formal Dresses
What’s the best part about winter? The fact that we get to wear marsala and ox-blood again on a daily basis. This whole family of deep reds just doesn’t work in any other season like it does in the Fall and Winter months. The color alone embodies sheer elegance. Adding illusion beading and other sparkling embellishments just takes the luxurious look to the next level! Shop Terani if you love illusion detailing!

Teal Formal Dresses

Teal is often worn more so in the Spring season; however, when done right it can work just as well in the Winter. It’s actually an excellent color for Winter, because with the right amount of sparkling embroidery and patterns, it captures an almost icy feel. It’s one of the few cooler colors we love for Winter and especially New Years!

Royal Blue Formal Dresses
Winter party dresses are all about luxe hues with distinct features and unique patterns. We love the metallic abstract look by Aidan Mattox and their layered look with sequin under-lay embellishments. Royal blue is a wonderful hue for the New Year and the New You!

You will never go worng with a Black Formal Dress

The autumn catalogue of formal dresses arrived last week, a refreshing reminder that this long, hot summer has to end at some point. Once the harvest season arrives, we will start seeking for formal dresses for formal evenings. I would be love to share what I am loving right now.

This tropical take on evening wear actually originated in the early 1960s when the fashion industry pretty much threw out the rulebook on formal tradition.  At that time manufacturers retained seersucker’s distinctive striped pattern but limited the fabric to summer dinner jackets.

Keepsake has been a long-time favourite of mine with their history of geometric prints, stripes and minimalistic designs. In their ‘City of Lights’ dress, they combine bold black geometric stripes against a plain white fabric. The simplistic style of the dress, and the sleek design flatters the body, and upholds the feminine shape.

As the weather begins to cool down, this dress is perfect as you can layer it with a modern jacket or keep it simple by itself. The bodice shape, and the two tiered detailing along the bust is the standout of this dress for me. It’s both sexy and simple, with its slightly more covered style keeping the allure going. Dress it up with nice heels for an elegant evening or wear it down with some leather boots for a fun night out!

Gorgeous Formal Dresses Designer: An interview with Vanessa Wu

I am going to share an interview features Vanessa Wu, a formal dress designer from Hongkong. She has been studied in the modeling in New York, NY. And I am quite impressed by her courage to study and work alone in a country separate from her family and friends.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm a freshly-married lady from Hong Kong, where i live with my dreamboat husband, Ethan. By day, I'm a senior producer of websites for luxury brands, and by night, i design and craft women gowns. (you can blame my day job for my love of fancy things and obsession with getting the details right.)

What special things do you create for formal dresses?
i design formal dresses for wedding and events with clean lines and a vintage touch. i love that coco channel quote about taking one thing off before you leave the house; i think about that a lot when I'm creating new pieces.

Who or what sparked your interest in making fashion evening dresses?
I make a prom dress for my younger sister with rhinestones & feather, and make her stunning at the party. Then many of her friends at the party insisted that i should explore selling them. Then i opened up shop in 2010.

What is a little known fact, or something unique about your work that is interesting?
i feel strongly about maxing luxury-quality pieces, and am crazy about proper finishing. i always think about whether or not i would be happy wearing the piece for my own wedding, so if it takes an extra hour to finish an edging just so or get the positioning just right, to me, it's worth the time.

What trends do you see happening in your specialty at the moment?
i see a lot of double-layer tulle and crop top dress, see through gowns, backless formal dresses happening now, but it's a difficult look to pull off. I'm also seeing more traditional-style like lace covered top. I've begun to play around with some nontraditional variations on it.

What advice can you share for all the teen girls getting to the prom this year?
when things get stressful, breathe and remember the light at the end of the tunnel. the day will be transcendental if you let it be.

If you could choose 1 item from your shop that you wish every girl could have, what would it be?
That would be a modern classic school formal dresses for teen girls. it's a classic design, and the magic of it is that it can be positioned in different ways, so it works with every body shape.
